On Sunday the 22nd of February, we follow the coast line along Drury creek to Parerekau island and eventually to Papakura. The route has formed track or footpath some of the way, however other parts of the route are through the Public Esplanade Reserves which we need to carefully stick to, until we reach the causeway across to Parerekau island. The island has a newly formed path around the outside of the island.

After a circuit of the island we head back over the causeway and along the coast, across the motorway and eventually to Prince Edward park in Papakura. At the finish a car shuttle will be organised to get us back to the start. Direct drivers need to drive to the finish at Green Street, Prince Edward park.

There is a wide variation in terrain, the route goes across, wide concrete foot path, grass lawns, gardens, sandy beach, Mangrove swamp, and scrub. However there is only a small part that may be a little challenging for some, but regulars will have no problem. Only the start of the route is private land however we have permission to cross this part. The remaining route is Public land and mainly Esplande reserve, so even though some parts look like a private garden, it is in fact a Public access way. Be prepared for some mud, but only a few centimetres deep.

❌❗ Remember if you can not attend, to avoid a "No Show" next to your name, then change your status. If you have 3 or more "No Shows" then you will be changed to "Not going". It is always courteous to change your RSVP status, if you no longer can attend. Thank you👍

🚩 For those new to our group: Welcome to Hiking Aotearoa
We meet on the entrance steps of Victoria Park New World, and then car pooling is arranged. Remember New World is currently being re built due to a fire a couple of years ago.

We can not wait for late people. Please give $15 to your driver on departure. For your own safety please stick together as a group, that is, not too fast and not too slow. We stop at any track junctions and regroup if needed. Enjoy your day 😊
