356. Perseid Meteor Shower Hike

Hello Hikers!

The Perseid meteor shower is one of the best meteor showers to spot from anywhere in the world. This year, peak activity will take place on a Tuesday, so we try to catch it a bit earlier for all those who are not on vacation. We will have a bright moon this year, but it will stay low on the horizon and so hopefully not interfere too much with our stargazing.

We will meet in front of the arch at Saltholmens brygga. The boat leaves at 19:35 so we meet at the latest at 19:25.

• 19:35 departure with ferry 283 to Brännö. The trip takes 18 min.
• We hike outside the nature reserve area which is an 45min walk from the ferry and find a spot outside the nature reserve area.
• There is a barbeque area close by where we can grill some dinner and later light fire to keep us warm for the night.
• The meteor showers peak between 01:00 to 04:00.
• We plan to take the ferry back on Sunday morning and head back to the city.

What to bring:

• sleeping bag or blanket, and mat. Tent is optional. If you bring a tent, you will have to pitch it outside the nature reserve area which is a 15min. walk from the camp fire spot.
• foods (dinner and breakfast, there is an opportunity to grill as well)
• water (there are no water sources, so carry at least 3-4 liters)
• Board games if you have any
• Beverages :P
