## 🦩 The Great Crane Migration Hike: Lake Hornborga

Join us for a full-day adventure to one of Europe’s most important wetlands! We will experience the majestic dance of the cranes, enjoy a scenic 19 km hike, and visit both of the lake's famous visitor centers.

• Naturum Hornborgasjön: We’ll start our day here. We will explore the observation tower for a panoramic view of the lake.
• Trandansen: This is the famous southern spot where the cranes are fed. It’s the best place to see thousands of birds. Right now there are approximately 10,200 cranes at the lake!

### 📍 The Plan

We will meet at Gothenburg Central Station on the platform then we take the train together. Upon arrival in Falköping, we will use "Närtrafik" (on-demand transit) to reach the lake.

• 07:36: Train departs from Gothenburg Central.
• 08:52: Arrival at Falköping Resecentrum.
• 09:00–10:00: Närtrafik shuttle to Naturum "Café Doppingen" Hornborgasjön 2.
• 10:00–11:00: Explore Naturum (exhibits, bird towers, and hides).
• 11:00: Start the 19 km hike to Trandansen (approx. 90% flat roads/paths). We will hike for about 5 hours, exploring bird towers along the way.
• 17:00–18:23: Arrival and exploration at Trandansen Visitor Center.
• 18:23: Bus/Train journey back home (estimated arrival in Gothenburg around 20:23).

### 🥾 Technical Details

• Distance: 19 km.
• Difficulty: Easy Walk (mostly flat terrain on roads, but a long distance).
• Pace: Social hike with stops for birdwatching.
• Group Limit: Maximum 8 people (due to Närtrafik vehicle capacity).

### 🎒 What to Bring

• Binoculars: Essential for the best experience! (Naturum also has fixed scopes).
• Food & Water: Pack a lunch and plenty of snacks and water. We will be outdoors for at least 7 hours.
• Västtrafik App/Ticket: Ensure you have a valid Zone ABC ticket for the entire trip.

### ⚠️ Important Note on Transport

I have pre-booked two "Närtrafik" cars to take us from Falköping Resecentrum to Café Doppingen.

• These two cars might not arrive at the exact same time, so we may need to split the group briefly; the first group will wait for the second at Naturum.
• The pickup will happen sometime between 09:00–10:00.
• Please keep your RSVP updated so I can manage the booking. I will need to confirm the final number of participants and names while we are on the train.
