Van Gogh special: Auvers-sur-Oise via GR1
Details
Auvers-sur-Oise. What's this? Am I testing your French pronunciation skills? Thank fully not. Little known, this idyllic commune on the outskirts of Paris holds a cool place in the history. For this is where the iconic painter Van Gogh spent his last years, painting some of his masterpieces depicting the landscapes, cottages and houses, and the chateau all in Auvers-sur-Oise. Might you think maybe it's just him, but this place equally enchanted many such painters in the 19th century including Paul Cezanne, Camille Corot, Norbert Goeneutte, etc. Did I forget to say that this hike also features the pretty cool Conti Castle in addition to the Chateau d'Auvers. Are you ready to discover the real beauty beneath these iconic paintings with your very own eyes?
