# Urft Reservoir & Rursee Adventure | 19KM Hike |
Ready for our next adventure? This time, we’re heading from Eindhoven to the beautiful Eifel region of Germany for a full-day hike through forests, hills, and spectacular reservoir landscapes.
We’ll explore the area around Vogelsang International Place, the Urft Reservoir, and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding Eifel landscape.
## The Hike
📍 Location: Vogelsang / Eifel National Park, Germany
🥾 Distance: 19.2 km
⛰️ Elevation: 460 m
⏱️ Estimated hiking time: Approximately 5.5 hours
💪 Difficulty: Challenging – good fitness required
This is a long and active hike, but it is not intended to be highly technical. Expect easily accessible hiking paths, climbs, descents, forest trails, reservoir views and plenty of opportunities for photos.
Because we are hiking as a group, we will take breaks and walk at a reasonable pace. However, you should be comfortable walking for several hours and covering approximately 20 km.
## Plan for the Day
08:00 – Meet in Eindhoven and depart
~10:00 – Arrive at the starting area
10:00–17:00 – Hike, including breaks and lunch
~17:00 – Finish the hike and start heading back
~18:30–19:00 – Expected arrival back in Eindhoven
Times are approximate and may change depending on traffic, weather and the group's pace.
~19:00 – Optional Dinner in Eindhoven
## What to Bring
- Comfortable hiking shoes
- Water — at least 1.5–2 litres
- Lunch and snacks
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Rain jacket if necessary
- Sunscreen
- Any personal medication you may need
## Transport & Carpooling
We will organise carpooling from Eindhoven.
Drivers and passengers can coordinate before the trip, and we will share transport costs between the people in each car. More details will be provided to confirmed attendees closer to the event.
## ⚠️ Important
This hike is not suitable for complete beginners or anyone who is unsure about walking 19 km. Please make sure you are physically comfortable with the distance and elevation before joining.
We hike together, and we do not leave anyone behind — but everyone joining should come prepared and have a reasonable level of fitness.
Please also remember that we will be hiking in a natural environment, so stay on designated paths, respect nature, and follow the organiser's instructions where necessary.
