Chapter Meeting - Guest Speaker: Cassidy Haney, Greenways and Trails

Cassidy Haney from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Greenways and Trails, will be our guest speaker. She will be giving a presentation with an overview of the Office of Greenways and Trails, their system plan, and how they live out our plans through community outreach and coordination.

As a native to North Florida, Cassidy is no stranger to the beauty and awe inspired by Florida’s natural spaces. Growing up along the Gulf Coast, she was constantly in the water and on trails taking landscape pictures and enjoying all the wonder this incredible state has to offer. Although she moved away for college, she is happy to be back in the sunshine state where she is combining her lived experiences with her academic background in an effort to foster an appreciation for our natural spaces in those around her.

Most often, you can expect to see Cassidy outside enjoying her flower garden and plant collection (she really loves ornamentals and tropical plants – but nothing beats a native flower!). If she isn’t outside in her yard, she is likely inside scrapbooking and crafting with her cat Calypso and her beagle Marmalade. In addition to these hobbies, she also enjoys playing instruments, gaming with her partner, and traveling to new places. Have a fun dinner or travel spot? Additionally, we our being joined by Michelle Duncan, the Chair of the Florida Trail Association Board of Directors, who will be presenting three of our chapter members with annual FTA awards. This would be an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the state of the trail, FTA strategic goals, and get updates on changes with the FTA including information about our new Executive Director, Tisha McCombs.

Afterwards, we will have our monthly general business meeting that everyone is welcome to attend.
