Independence Day - Beat the Heat Hike

Details
Beat the heat, beat the crowds, and hit the beach early morning on the 4th of July! Join the Panhandle Chapter of the Florida Trail Association as we start the holiday with a 5.5 mile walk through St Andrew’s State Park. We will meet at the park gate at 6:30 am for special early entrance before the crowds arrive, and proceed to the jetty parking lot. This hike will consist of two segments. The first segment will start at the kiddie pool, around the point to the lagoon side, then through the woods before returning back to the beach (a little less than 3 miles). The second segment will start at the kiddie pool going to the pier on the Gulf side and back (approx 2.5 miles). Please bring plenty of water and a snack. Wear a bathing suit or clothes you don't mind getting wet in case we walk through the water. Water shoes or some type of foot protection is recommended, as well as sun screen, bug spray, a hat and whatever you need for a comfortable walk. We may see deer, a variety of birds, jellyfish, stingrays, dolphins, alligators, snakes, turtles... Nature abounds in the early morning hours.
