The Best is Yet to Come Series - Hike #5
Details
Join the Florida Trail Association - Panhandle Chapter for a grueling trek through Torreya State Park - covering some of the toughest terrains Florida has to offer. We will begin at 8 am central time/ 9am eastern, aiming to complete two loops, including the Torreya Challenge - about 12.8 miles total. Enjoy amazing views of Florida’s natural beauty and some of the highest elevation changes in the entire state. We will hike the more difficult Eastern loop first. Carrying adequate water is imperative on this section, because there are no natural resources on this side, and no out once you are on the trail. 1 L for every 2 to 3 miles is the recommendation. Please also hydrate ahead of time, bring electrolytes, eat breakfast before you arrive and bring lunch/snacks for the trail. Even though the weather is cooler, snakes and ticks are still a possibility. Hiking poles, sturdy shoes, bug spray, sunscreen & hat are recommended. Sorry, no pets on this series. This hike will be fun and challenging, as we get ready for our New Year’s Day 20-miler!
