The Best is Yet to Come Series - Hike #7

Happy New Year! The Upper Econfina section of the FNST is a favorite for its beauty and character. Highlights include Econfina Creek, a waterfall, several suspension bridges, spring-fed sinkholes, lakes, ravines, bluffs and a variety of vegetation and wildlife. The day will include about 20 miles, starting at Scott Rd Trailhead at 7:00 am. We will hike to the Hwy 20 trailhead, stopping for a quick New Year’s Party at the approximate halfway point (Walsingham Bridge Trailhead), where we will re-supply our water, and enjoy some food! You do not have to hike the entire 20 miles to participate. You can start at Scott Rd and end your hike at Walsingham Bridge Trailhead, or if you prefer to sleep a little later, you can start your hike at Walsingham Bridge Trailhead, and join us for the 2nd half (please arrive at Walsingham Bridge TH no later than 11:00 am if you are doing the 2nd half). We will need to coordinate timing and shuttling, so when you sign up, please leave a comment with 1st half, 2nd half or whole shebang. Come prepared with plenty of water (1 L for every 2 to 3 miles is the recommendation), electrolytes, snacks, sturdy shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, hiking poles, etc… Hydrate and nourish before you arrive. Let’s ring in the New Year on our favorite trail with a great group of friends and volunteers. As always, the best is yet to come!
