National Trails Day at local McAlpine Creek Park & Lucas Mill

Let’s celebrate National Trails Day this coming Saturday by doing a local trail! Saturday morning promises to be partly sunny and in the 70s.

We’ll walk along the small lake, then through woods with a canopy of mature trees, followed by a bog that hosts herons and other water loving birds, and also open fields. We'll do a portion of Campbell Creek Greenway in order to see the remains of the Lucas Grist Mill.

This will be an easy walk but at a steady pace. We’ll cover about 4 miles through a mixture of natural, gravel and paved trails. It is mostly flat with no elevation change.

With attending this event you agree to participate at your own risk and Charlotte Piedmont Hiking Club and its leaders will not be liable for any injuries or mishaps.

Restrooms open near the entrance of the parking lot.
Bring water and wear good walking or running shoes.
Dogs on 6-foot leash welcome but bring a scoop bag.
