What we’re about

Join the Legacy of the Friends of Raccoon Creek Hiking Club

On January 21, 2012, the Hiking Club embarked on its very first adventure. Three passionate hikers braved six snowy miles, trekking through trails blanketed with seven inches of fresh powder. These trailblazers were members of the Friends of Raccoon Creek State Park, the park’s dedicated volunteer group.

Inspired by that wintry journey, the trio committed to monthly hikes, a tradition that continues to this day. Their enthusiasm didn’t stop at hiking. They also rolled up their sleeves to support trail maintenance and creating opportunities for the public to connect with the park’s rich natural resources and historical significance.

For nearly 15 years, this club has been a driving force in Raccoon Creek State Park as well as Hillman State Park. The group members contribute over 400 hours annually to park improvements.

If you love hiking, cherish the outdoors, or want to make a difference, we invite you to join us on the 44-mile trail network. Let’s explore, preserve, and celebrate Raccoon Creek State Park together with all the Friends of Raccoon Creek State Park!

This club is part of the Friends of Raccoon Creek State Park, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental education, historical preservation, and promoting recreational activities within Raccoon Creek State Park Complex.
