I’ve worked in Emergency Management in this area 🥷🪖and have deep family ties to Avalon and the surrounding community. Several of my relatives own homes here, some were lifeguards and I’ve spent years connecting with both full-time residents and seasonal visitors. It’s a safe, family-friendly place where I’ve come to know many of the lifeguards, public workers, and public safety crew personally — and I continue to meet new people who care about this beach as much as we do.🚓 We’re also here to recognize and support the entire team that keeps Avalon running — including the Avalon Police Department, Avalon Fire Department 🚒, and the borough’s essential public workers 🧹🚛. Their presence, dedication, and steady work are what make this beach town such a welcoming and secure place for families, friends, and all who visit.
👣 Some of the lifeguards we honor carry on a legacy that spans generations — like Avalon’s legendary Murray Wolf, who I also knew personally who served over 65 years, following in the footsteps of his father and uncle before him. Families like the Glombs, McDonnel's and many others have made lifeguarding a proud tradition here — protecting these shores with heart, heritage, and deep local roots.
Among those we personally thank:
🏄♂️ Matthew Wolf, Chief
🏄 Ryan Black, Captain
🌊 Craig Whitehead Sr., Erich Wolf, Shane McGrath, Ian Keyser, Danielle Smith | Lieutenants
👨👩👧👦 Jack, George, James, and Alex Glomb.
Regan, Molly and John McDonnell, Katie Scanlo, Dave, John, Rob, 🛟🏄♀️Plus many others who keep Avalon safe and welcoming.…and the many others who serve the community with heart 💛 — Note we’ll be updating this list in the newest revision of this year’s yearbook.

⚠️ Beach Safety Reminder – Digging Holes
Please be mindful when digging on the beach. Unattended holes can cause serious injury to others — especially at night when visibility is low. Before you leave, always fill in any holes you’ve dug.
🚫 Never climb into a deep sand hole. The walls can become unstable and collapse, creating a dangerous risk of entrapment.
Let’s help keep the beach safe for everyone. 🛟Let’s make this summer season a good one.
DM Joey De or the Scheduling Admin to plug in.
