Rocky Drift Private Nature Reserve is situated 290km from Johannesburg in Waterval Onder, Mpumalanga.
The property embraces an enclosed valley of approximately 257 hectares with some of the most beautiful mountain country to be found in the Waterval Boven district.
Rocky Drift Private Nature Reserve offers pet friendly private self catering cottages and exclusive campsites on the banks of the Joubert Spruit. Relax and take in your surrounds whilst hiking on our well marked self-guided hiking trails. The prolific bird life, and breathtaking scenery will keep you coming back, again and again.
The Reserve is ecologically contained and home to many species of fauna such as bushbuck, baboon, klipspringer, duiker, steenbok, vaal reedbuck, vervet monkeys, leopard, genet, rooikat, rock pythons to name a few. There is also an abundance of bird life, including black eagle, steppe buzzard, as well as various kites and falcons.
COSTS (Prepaid):
An immediate R300 deposit gains you a spot. This must be paid within 48 hours of your RSVP. If not paid within 48 hours you will be moved to Not Going. The full amount of R760 is required if you RSVP after 31 August 2023.

Depart for home after the hike.
ACCOMMODATION (16 PEOPLE MAXIMUM):
Caravan & Tent Sites
The campsites are well spaced, well shaded, level stands with electricity & water outlets. The ablutions consist of separate ladies & gents toilet, wash basin & shower. The shared scullery area is clean with plenty of hot water. Braai facilities available.
Camping gear can be hired from www.scuttle.co.za.
MEALS:
Meals are self-catered. There will be communal braai on Friday evening.
To support the owners we will have Friday dinner at the on-site restaurant.
Hiking snacks, water and any other beverages and snacks are for your own account

Distance - 282km from Chilli Lane Shopping Centre, Sunninghill
Time - Approx 3.0 hours

CARPOOLING (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED):
Calculate the vehicle running cost. Multiply the total return distance by the running cost (NOT TOTAL COST), add tolls and divide by number of people in the vehicle to get the individual cost. Distance is calculated from the first pick-up point.

YOU AND YOUR GUESTS are required to have an intermediate level of fitness for most of the hikes (3.5km/hr or 18min/km over moderate terrain)

YOU AND YOUR GUESTS participating in Weekend Nature & Hiking Getaways activities do so AT THEIR OWN RISK.
The Organisers and Hosts are indemnified from any loss, injury or any incident that prejudices Members and their guests.
Members and their guests must ensure that they have the required hiking gear to comfortably participate in the event.
