Description of hike
We will meet at La Garraf station at 10.00. We'll take the path up the mountain of the Garraf, passing the ruined Castell de Garraf. It's a steep path up and at times can be narrow. Once we arrive at the top, the route continues along a wide path with picturesque views of the open countryside and vineyards. We'll turn off and continue the path to Vallgrassa. The path will then lead to a road. We'll walk along the road which is quite steep up to the highest point but it has spectacular views across the whole of the Garraf mountains with the sea in the distance. We'll enter a small forest that leads to the old modernist building of La Pleta. It's owned by the Guell family and is now used as an Information centre for the Garraf. We'll have lunch here in the shady picnic area then we'll continue our route through the forest. The path back down the other side of the mountain skirts one of the few quarries in use. After the path zig-zags down through the Mediterranean forest, rising in places. On reaching the starting point we can have a well-deserved drink in a bar next to the sea.
Nos encontraremos en la estación de La Garraf a las 10.00. Tomaremos el camino que sube a la montaña del Garraf, pasando por las ruinas del Castell de Garraf. Es un camino empinado que a veces puede ser estrecho. Una vez que llegamos a la cima, la ruta continúa por un camino ancho con pintorescas vistas al campo abierto y a los viñedos. Nos desviaremos y continuaremos el camino hacia Vallgrassa. El camino luego conducirá a una carretera. Caminaremos por la carretera que es bastante empinada hasta el punto más alto, pero tiene vistas espectaculares de toda la sierra del Garraf con el mar en la distancia. Entraremos en un pequeño bosque que conduce al antiguo edificio modernista de La Pleta. Es propiedad de la familia Güell y ahora se utiliza como centro de información del Garraf. Almorzaremos aquí en la zona de picnic con sombra y luego continuaremos nuestra ruta por el bosque. El camino de vuelta por el otro lado de la montaña bordea una de las pocas canteras en uso. Después el camino zigzaguea bajando por el bosque mediterráneo, ascendiendo en algunos tramos. Al llegar al punto de partida podemos tomarnos una merecida copa en un bar junto al mar.
