Slieve Gullion

Hi folks,
Meet at the Slieve Gullion Forest Park Car Park. £5 parking fee applies.
We are heading up north to the beautiful Slieve Gullion. We will trek the scenic road up to the top where there is an old cairn and passage tomb, and then track down the other side of the mountain via a holy well and old church. Lots to see on this hike which we will take at a reasonably brisk pace.
(Note: For the hiking routes we take, only proper ankle-support hiking boots are suitable).
Please bring your own lunch/snacks and plenty of water. Waterproof gear is also needed as the forecast is for rain.
This event is not a formally organised hike, and all attendees are responsible for their own personal insurance and safety.

Distance: 14km approx
Ascent: 550m
Duration: 5-6 hours including breaks
Terrain: Road and track.
Speed: A reasonable pace of about 3 km/h including breaks.
