The Hook: Do you enjoy walking uphill? How about pretending you’re an elite mountain goat while scrambling over rocks at Sam’s Run? If you answered "yes"—or if you just need an excuse to leave the house—join us for a loop at the Lorain/Stoneycreek Hiking Trails.
We’re hitting the Blue Feeder to Yellow Trail loop, a classic Pennsylvania trek that offers just enough challenge to make you feel like a rugged explorer, but not enough to ruin your weekend.
The Plan: We’ll be taking the scenic route to check out Turtle Falls, a 15-foot waterfall that is—statistically speaking—the perfect place to pose for a photo and pretend you’re deep in the wilderness (even though we’re just minutes from Johnstown).

• Distance: Approx. 4-5 miles (give or take depending on how distracted we get by cool-looking trees).
• Difficulty: Intermediate. There’s a rock scramble involved. It builds character. And calves. Mostly calves.
• Vibe: Very casual. If you’re fast, you can lead. If you’re slow, you’re just "taking in the nature" (an excellent strategy).

What to Bring:

1. Sturdy Shoes: Unless you enjoy feeling every single pebble through your soles.
2. Water: Hydration is key to not becoming a local legend for passing out in the ferns.
3. Bug Spray: Because the mosquitoes will want to meet you.
4. A Good Attitude: Or at least a mediocre one. We aren't picky.

Meeting Spot: We’ll meet at the trailhead at 507 Green Valley St, Johnstown, PA. Look for the group of people looking vaguely outdoorsy and probably trying to figure out which way is North.
Note: If you’ve never done a rock scramble before, don’t panic—it’s mostly just fancy climbing on all fours like a toddler, but outdoors.

Whether you are a plant enthusiast, a flower lover, or simply looking to soak in the vibrant colors and scents of summer, this outing is built for admiring nature at a leisurely pace. We will wander through the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens, taking in the blooming display beds, peaceful walkways, fragrance-filled rose and pollinator gardens, and beautiful landscape architecture.

Right next door to the Arboretum sits the new Palmer Museum of Art! Admission to both the Arboretum and the Palmer Museum is 100% FREE.
*If enough group members are interested, we will take a cool, indoor stroll through the museum's galleries to wrap up our outing.

• Meeting Location: Orange A Lot directly across from the Palmer Museum of Art (650 Bigler Road) and adjacent to the Lewis Katz Building.
