Details

Due to the recent heavy rains, nature has put on a show for us! We are heading to the Serranía de Ronda to catch the rivers and waterfalls at their most powerful.
This is a Circular Route that takes us from the historic white village of Montejaque (which means "Lost Mountain" in Arabic) down to the station of Benaoján.

### TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Cueva del Gato (Cat's Cave): We will visit this famous Natural Monument. After the rains, the water explodes out of the cave mouth, creating loud, thundering waterfalls and crystal-clear pools.
  • The Hidden Waterfalls: The finale of the hike is the Nacimiento de los Cascajales. Usually a quiet stream, right now it is a "grand spectacle" of multiple waterfalls and rapids joining the river.
  • The Views: We start with a zigzag ascent on ancient cobblestone paths to the Ermita de la Escarihuela, offering panoramic views over the mountains.
  • The Terrain: Unlike other steep mountain hikes, this route is largely downhill or flat, passing through olive groves, meadows, and along the riverbank of the Guadiaro.
