This Sunday Let's visit the famous Auckland Botanic Gardens situated in Manurewa, Auckland.
## Closing weekend sculpture tour with Karuna Douglas
Join artist Karuna Douglas on a closing weekend tour of Sculpture in the Gardens 2024/25.
Meet in the Huakaiwaka visitor centre.
Free. This is a special event.
### Fifteen stunning large scale works throughout the gardens
The Auckland Botanic Gardens is home to more than 10,000 plants from around the world.
The gardens and displays are easily accessed from the network of paths across 64 hectares.
Follow the Botanic Gardens East Sculpture Path and the Botanic Gardens West Sculpture Path to admire the sculptural artworks.
Plan for the day:
We will meet at 10:00 AM Outside the Visitor Centre.
We will have introductions, etc. Get ready to meet Karuna Douglas at 10.30-1 PM to join him for free tour of 15 sculptures.
At 1 PM we will have a lunch break at Miko cafe by the Visitor Centre. You are welcome to order something from the cafe or bring your own lunch.
At 1.40 PM we will continue to explore the gardens and the forest trail around there.
We will aim to return back to the car park between 3-4 PM.
Summary:
Difficulty: 2, suitable for beginner hikers also. and everyone else who is keen :)
Terrain: On well formed paths
Time: Between 5-6 hrs to complete including plenty of stops and a longer lunch break.
What to bring: Snacks, water, sun hat, sunscreen, comfortable shoes to wear, and comfortable clothes. First aid items.
Organizers of Hiking NZ ask for a $5 donation to help cover for running costs of this group. You can bring this in cash on the day.
If you require a ride from Auckland CBD, I suggest $10 for petrol contribution. This must be paid before the start of the hike.
