Piha to Anawhata beach hike

Welcome back!

Next Sunday,

Let's head over to Piha in Waitakere ranges, about an hour drive from Auckland CBD and hike to Anawhata beach. Tracks we will cover: Rose track, White track, Anawhata road, Anawhata beach track.

Distance: around 13-15 km.
Duration: Between 5-6 hrs including stops
Terrain: On well formed paths, some gravel some well established hiking trails. Some distance will involve walking on black sand.
Difficulty rating: 3, medium based on a few steep sections, a lot of up and downs. Not very suitable for complete beginners, would suit intermediate hikers who have done a few hikes previously and can keep up with the rest of the group.

What to bring:
Comfortable hiking shoes, 2 Lt water, snacks, lunch, wind proof jacket. First aid items.

If you require a ride to Piha, I suggest give $15 cash to your driver which must be paid before the start of the hike.

After the hike if you wish we could go to Piha RSA and have fish and chips or other food or drinks. They have very good menu at a very reasonable cost. Please indicate if this is something you would be interested in doing and I can look into booking us a table.

We will meet at Northern car park where the toilets are and go from there. There is a cell phone coverage, any problems give me a ring on 02102469081.
