Please join only if you’re sure you can attend the hike on Saturday, 10 October. This group is for this event only. We have a separate group for weekly updates on upcoming events.

RSVP here, then introduce yourself in WhatsApp and say whether you can drive or need a seat. Passenger places are first come, first served once attendance is confirmed in the chat.
Meetup accepts up to 20 expressions of interest; only five people will go. Your place is confirmed only by the organiser in WhatsApp.
The trip depends on securing a driver and suitable weather and track access.

🥾 The hike · MODERATE
Hūnua Falls + the Cossey–Massey Loop: approximately 8.3 km, plus the short falls visit. Allow 3–4 hours walking, or 4–5 hours with lunch and photo stops.
Expect a 30-metre waterfall, fern-lined native forest, streams and reservoir views. We’ll walk at a sociable pace, with hills, steps and potentially muddy or slippery ground. Be comfortable walking several hours.

🎒 What to bring
Grippy walking shoes, at least 2 litres of water, lunch and snacks, a rain jacket, warm layer, sun protection, personal medication, charged phone and a small first-aid kit. Bring your own supplies.

🌱 Good company, good care
Be kind, stay together and respect nature. Stay on marked tracks, clean footwear at kauri hygiene stations, take all rubbish home and leave plants and rocks where they are. No swimming at the falls or crossing flooded streams.
📸 Photos are optional: tell us if you prefer not to be photographed, and ask before sharing identifiable photos of others.
