FAST PACE Hike EVERY TUESDAY In Forest Park

Details

REMEMBER COVID... >IF YOU ARE NOT FULLY VACCINATED< MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING AND BRING YOUR MASK.

This is a FAST PACED hike.

Start walking at 6:30.

BRING WATER!

Park bathrooms are nnow open.

Dogs are great! Gotta be leashed and not disruptive.

[This event will repeat weekly (barring holidays & other exceptions) alternating between the Ozark Canoe and Kayak Crew meetup and the Lets Hike meetup.]

BRING A HEADLAMP OR FLASHLIGHT! WE WALK IN THE WOODS AND ON UNEVEN GROUND.

WHAT IS IT:
We'll tour portions of Forest Park, partly on the pedestrian "heels" path, but also on hills, grass, pavement, and sometimes dirt trails. Each time we'll take a different route. The distance will be about 5 1/2 miles.

We will move at a rate of about 20 minutes per mile (3 mph) and finish about 8:30-8:45 PM. COUNT ON CLIMBING ART HILL SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT STOPPING. You can opt out, waiting at the top or bottom.

It will not be as challenging as the Clark Trail in terms of roots, or rocks, but there won't be ticks, AND, our choices of eating establishments afterwards will be better and closer. (That was obviously written BC [before covid]).

You can to "peel off" early if you like but please tell me and know your way around the park.

WHAT TO BRING:
Dress for the weather. Bring water, good shoes/boots, and bug repellent (just in case), trekking poles if you use them, micro-spikes if it is icy, and a headlight. On general principles bring rain gear. Most of us work up a sweat.

If you join us afterwards to eat and/or have a drink you may want to have a jacket or change of clothes in your car to keep from becoming chilled. (Obviously a pre-covid comment.)

We'll start walking at 6:30.
