Bryan Park Azalea Garden + Trail
Details
Meet in the parking lot for the soccer fields and Shelter #3.
We'll start in the 17-acre Azalea Garden. There'll be opportunities to shoot landscapes of blooms under the trees, and there is a pond with a fountain., It's likely to be a busy spring morning, so you'll have chances to practice including people in your compositions. You could also do macro shots of the blooms.
When we finish there, we’ll head over to the Pollinator Garden, where we might see butterflies and bees as well as blooms.
We can take a look at the ponds (possibly water birds), and then circle back to the parking area.
The distance is about 2 miles of easy walking, not including exploring.
Gear: You can use a general-purpose lens for flexibility, or a wide-angle lens for landscapes, a macro lens for blooms, and/or a zoom lens for birds. No special camera or lens is needed, though; your phone will handle all of it.
Bring: It is supposed to be a hot day. Bring a hat, water, a snack, and wear sunscreen.
Afterward, we’ll find a nearby spot for brunch (optional). I’m looking at Stir Crazy Cafe RVA, but will take your suggestions.
