Deep Pond Trail Hike in Arcadia Management Area

Details
This will be an intermediate level hike starting at the Upper Tippecansett Trail to the Deep Pond Trail and Deep Pond. Pristine and undeveloped Deep Pond is surrounded by a maze of trails leading to numerous cliffs, ridges, ledges and boulder piles. Some of the terrain can be a bit challenging, and there are many unmarked spur trails to be found along the way. From there, we will hike along The Outer Reaches into Hopkinton, where you will find a main section of the trail loop often listed as flooded and impassable due to a large swamp and beaver dam. Fortunately, it appears that this section was recently repaired and is now passable. The remainder of the hike will be along another section of the Deep Pond Trail leading back to the parking area.
To participate in this hike, you will need to be in excellent physical condition and have completed an 8-mile hike within the past 2 months. Please be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and bug spray. We leave promptly at 8:00 AM.
Distance: 8.5 miles, more or less
Time/Duration: Approximately 4 hours
Proper hiking shoes/boots are required
Blaze Orange clothing is not required
Please note, the parking area is the newly created small parking lot located on RT. 165, just a few hundred yards east of the large parking lot at Beach Pond.
