Maverick Springs via Upper Green Mountain trail (intermediate)
Details
Maverick Springs via Upper Green Mountain trail is a short lovely hike under the green canopy of the pine-oak forest that goes down the backside of the Catalina Mountains. There are some lovely views across the San Pedro Valley to the nearby mountain range. This is an out and back hike that goes downhill on the way in and uphill on the way out. There may not actually be any water at Maverick Springs due to the lack of recent rain.
This hike is going to be about 4.2 miles round-trip with an accumulated elevation gain of about 1550 ft.
We will be meeting at McDonald's at Tanque Verde and Catalina Hwy for carpooling leaving at 7:20 am. We will meet at the Upper Green Mountain trailhead at 8am.
There are no restrooms at the trailhead so plan accordingly.
There is an $8 cash only day use fee for the Catalina Mountains. If you have a Coronado Pass please bring it!
Please bring at least 2L of water for this hike. I recommend bringing a snack/lunch and using hiking poles and sun protection. Please wear proper hiking footwear, you will regret hiking in sneakers.
Firearms, dogs and tobacco/vape products are not allowed.
