Catalinas: Sunset-Aspen-Marshall Gulch loop trail (Moderate)

CARPOOLING INFO: We will be meeting at the McDonald's at Tanque Verde Rd and Catalina Hwy for carpooling. We will be leaving the carpooling point at 6am and meeting at the Sunset trailhead at 7am. The Sunset trailhead is about 0.1 mi past the Butterfly trailhead on the left side of the highway. There are no restrooms or water at the trailhead, plan accordingly.

We will be starting hiking up the Sunset trail to the Marshall Gulch picnic area, from there we will hike up the Aspen trail through some great Aspen tree groves to the Marshall Saddle where we will take a snack/lunch break. From there we will hike back down the green, lovely Marshall Gulch trail to the picnic area and then back down the Sunset trail to the cars.

Round trip is 6.9 mi, with a total elevation gain of 1250 ft.

There is an $8 day use fee for the Catalina Mountains. If you have a Coronado Pass please bring it!

Please bring at least 2L of water for this hike. I recommend bringing a snack/lunch and using hiking poles and sun protection. Please wear proper hiking footwear, you will regret hiking in sneakers.
