Rothbury to Simonside 8 miles, medium grade with steep sections

Please meet in Cowhaugh car park, Rothbury, for a prompt 10.30 start.
The walk takes us along the north bank of the Coquet, crossing south to Great Tosson, then Simonside where we will stop for our packed lunch.
We continue to Dove Crag, Lordenshaws, Whittondean, Whitton and back to Rothbury.
The route takes us through fields, forest and open moorland, on tracks and tarmac road. It is a mixture of flat and undulating terrain with some steep climbs, often uneven rocky surfaces and muddy in wet weather.
There are toilets and shops in Rothbury but not on the walk.

Important. You must:

• Be fit enough for the distance and terrain
• Have clothing and footwear suitable for the conditions
• Have enough food and drink for a day's walking
• Accept responsibility for your own safety. Hosts are not qualified walk leaders
• If you bring a dog it must be kept under control as per the Countryside Code, and the wishes of group participants
