Hike #2 in the 2024 Saturday in the Santa Monicas series, is a moderate 8 mile, 2000’ gain out and back hike with a couple loops starting at Leo Carrillo and hiking to scenic Nicholas Pond for lunch with spectacular ocean views and spring wildflowers.

Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a good attitude. Rain, excessive heat, or Red Flag alert cancels.

We meet at 8:00 AM at the Leo Carrillo State Park parking lot (sometimes there is a wait to unlock the gate) or parkfor free on the side of the road on Pacific Coast Highway.

This is a Back Country hike, and a medical form is required. Please print it out and carry it with you. Copies of the form will be available to fill out at the trailhead as well. You can download the form here. https://tinyurl.com/ycy985mt

COVID-19 safety measures

In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with unvaccinated individuals. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not reveal the status or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend. Participants are responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test.
