Saturday in the Santa Monica Mountains 2024 #4 - Chumash Hummingbird Trails

Details

Join us for our fourth hike in the Wilderness Adventures Section 2024 Saturdays in the Santa Monica Mountains, a moderate 10-mile, 2500' gain loop hike in the Santa Susana Mountains. We will hike on the Chumash to Humming Bird trails in the Rocky Peak area with spectacular views overlooking Simi Valley and of Paeloscene rock structures and natural caves.

Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, and a good attitude. Rain, excessive heat, or Red Flag alert cancels. Shoes with good traction and poles are highly encouraged for the mudstone/sandstone downhill sections. Windbreaker recommended for the ridgelines on windy days.

Meet at 8:00 AM at the Chumash Park and Trail (3200 Flanagan Drive, Simi Valley 93063). Take the Yosemite exit of the Ronald Reagan/Simi Freeway (118) then right on Flanagan Drive after 0.5 miles. Drive to the end of Flanagan with a short right up to where we meet in the playground parking lot.

This is a Back Country hike, and a medical form is required. Please print it out and carry it with you. Copies of the form will be available to fill out at the trailhead as well. You can download the form here. https://tinyurl.com/ycy985mt.
