Middle St. Vrain Trailhead to Buchanan Pass Trailhead Hike
Join us for an out-and-back hike from Middle St. Vrain Trailhead to Buchanan Pass Trailhead. The route is approximately 8 miles round trip with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail follows Middle Fork St. Vrain Creek through a beautiful forested valley and offers a great opportunity to enjoy the Indian Peaks area.
Group Size: Limited to 5 participants and their dogs to help minimize our impact on the trail and provide a better experience for everyone.
Dogs: We will have access to Middle Fork St. Vrain Creek along the route, but please bring sufficient water for your dog in case creek access is limited or conditions change.
Dogs should be friendly and well-behaved around other dogs and people. Please ensure your dog follows appropriate trail etiquette, including:

  • No aggressive behavior toward people or other dogs
  • No jumping on people/dogs
  • Responds reliably to your commands
  • Yielding appropriately to other trail users
  • Picking up and packing out all dog waste

Experience Level: This hike is intended for participants who are comfortable hiking longer distances at higher elevations. Please be prepared for an 8-mile outing and the physical demands of mountain hiking.
What to Bring:

  • Water for yourself and your dog
  • Food and snacks
  • Appropriate clothing layers
  • Rain gear
  • Sun protection
  • Hiking footwear
  • Any other hiking essentials you typically carry

We can meet at Boulder County Justice Center at 1777 6th St, Boulder at 7am if you want to carpool.

A map of the route and additional details will be sent out prior to the hike.
Thanks,
Matt and Burt the dog
