Briones Regional Park - Springhill Crescent Loop - Lafayette
Details
Greetings All!
I’m looking forward to this hike in the hills that remain green before they turn yellow.
This is an easy-to-strenuous 5.87 mile loop with total altitude gain of 1,368 feet. The views are amazing and include Mount Diablo, the River Delta, and even a possible view of the Sierras!
Because there is limited trailhead parking at the end of Springhill Road, we will first meet up at the Lafayette Ridge Staging Area for carpooling.
The trail starts out pretty easy on Buckeye Ranch trail through an oak forest. We then head up about 800 ft on the Sunrise trail with views of the Diablo and Central Valleys the entire way up. After the summit we return via several ups and downs along the Briones Crest, Crescent Ridge, Seaborg, Lafayette Ridge, and Springhill trails.
Dogs are welcome.
Here is a map for your reference.
• What we'll do:
Let's meet up at the Lafayette Ridge Staging Area on Pleasant Hill Road just south of Springhill Elementary School at 8:50 am.
There we will form carpools and head out at 9:00 am to the end of Springhill Road.
• What to bring:
Expect a cool morning warming up quickly to a perfect day. Bring plenty of water, layered clothing, sturdy shoes/ boots, some snacks, and as always - an attitude for making friends.
See you soon!
Doug
