DETAILS
Discover this ~9-mile loop trail near Redwood City, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 30 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and mountain biking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are February through October.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We will catch the Sierra Morena trail from the parking lot to catch the loop. The first ~4,5 miles we will descend ~1,100ft after slight initial ascent. Next ~1.5 miles we will ascend continuously ~700ft . Then level of for about a mile then descend again ~200ft before ascending back again continuously another ~300ft back to our cars. Total elevation gain of 1,673ft over little over 9 miles. The terrain is very variable and the hike is 90% shaded. Perfect for a warm day. It is expected to be a nice day in low 70s by the time we finish. So be prepared, wear layers, bring hat, water and sunscreen if needed
