Chanticleer Gardens

Details
2-3 hours, 4-6 miles, Chanticleer is my favorite garden/arboretum in the area. No other arboretum has such a great variety of fauna presented is such a natural way, not formal like Longwood or Winterthur. I walk through this area with my mouth wide open because I'm awed by what I see. Besides trails, there are several houses/structures with gardens, pools, fountains, hanging plants, furniture and sculptures.
From Google Reviews "Within 30 minutes of Philadelphia, Chanticleer is one of the great gardens of the region. Once the Rosengarten estate, today's Chanticleer is a colorful, contemporary garden within an historic setting. Come discover why London's Financial Times calls us "planted to perfection" and Garden Design magazine says we are "America's most inspiring garden."
Admission $8-$12 admission, a bargain special. A yearly pass is also available. Parking is free but you must reserve a spot. I often try to reserved spots for the first five people, then post tickets online under photos. Use my name or the name of the hiking group.
More on Parking
You may not even need to worry about a parking reservation on Thurs. Usually there are spaces open because it's not a busy time. You can also make a reservation for any time after 10, like even 1030, and just arrive early at 10. I've also been told that you can park on the street about 2-3 blocks away and walk over.
To carpool from Hill House (201 W Evergreen Ave, Phila) meet 40 minutes before the event. Carpool time changes if hike time changes. Text me (267 629-2134) 3-4 days in advance.
