Tinicum Wildlife Refuge Exploration

Details
9.5 miles, 4 hours, flat good paths, birds, beautiful scenery, dramatic changes, Winter: in cold weather the shallow lakes freeze over. Really neat.
Entering the Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum from the plain middle class Philadelphia neighborhood is like passing through a time a space portal to a distant land. We hike Tinicum because of it's constantly changing beauty, wildlife, and foliage. We've seen eagles, owls, goldfinch, sparrows, great blue herons, ibis, cormorants, egrets, woodpeckers, yellow warblers, cardinals, flycatchers, orioles, turtles (one 5 feet head to tail), ground hogs, fox, deer, water moccasin, etc etc. The plant life changes every season and often is hard to believe, surrealistic beauty.
