Calder Gardens and Parkway Museum Walk
Details
2 hours, 2-5 miles, Calder Gardens and Parkway Walk
We will visit the newly opened Calder Gardens on the Parkway. It's devoted to the works of Alexander Calder.
"Alexander Calder is known for inventing wire sculptures and the mobile, a type of kinetic art which relied on careful weighting to achieve balance and suspension in the air. Initially Calder used motors to make his works move, but soon abandoned this method and began using air currents alone." One of his largest mobiles is seen near the entrance to the Guggenheim Museum in NYC.
We'll meet in the lobby of the Logan Hotel which is near Suburban Station if you are taking the train. The Museum is only 1 block away.
