4-6 hours with lunch, 5-8 miles, sand dunes, beach, State park beach and causeway. We'll walk 2-3.5 hours on beach, two different loops, then go for lunch or head home.

The Corson's Inlet State Park area is maybe the nicest beach area I ever walked. In the winter it's usually nicer than the summer for several reasons: it's quiet in the winter, it's crowded with people, boats, and cars in warmer weather; it's an easy drive in the winter because there is less traffic; it's more beautiful in the winter because of the lack of traffic, people, etc; there are no bugs in the winter; in warmer weather bugs will make walking uncomfortable to impossible. In warmer weather there are more birds, but no seal will come onto the beach in the summer. We saw one last winter.

The photo shows a view from the causeway that we walk from the parking area to Strathmere. I think the area looks nicer in person. We've seen zillions of birds, American Oystercatchers, dolphins, and a baby seal on the beach (alive).

I call this event "Brigadoon" By the Shore because with the schlieren effect the buildings across the inlet from Ocean City in Strathmere look like they are floating in the sky like the mystical village of Brigadoon from the movie/musical.
