Architectural Gems of Philadelphia Neighborhoods: Logan Square
Details
3-3.5 hours, 3-4 miles, brisk pace between stops, best buildings in Philadelphia's Logan Square neighborhood, lunch afterward if there's interest.
We are continuing our hikes to check out the most impressive architectural gems in a series of Philadelphia neighborhoods. For this one we will hike through the Logan Square neighborhood. This area is mostly known for soulless corporate high-rises, but you'll be amazed at the stunning churches, hotels, and museums mixed in among the skyscrapers. Among the highlights will be a cathedral modeled on the great churches of Rome, a brilliant Gothic office building (not a typo), and a castle with actual arrow slits (also not a typo!).
As always, no knowledge of architecture is needed . . . just an interest in seeing beautiful places and a willingness to stay with the group.
