Schuylkill Wissahickon Loop

3.5 hours, 8 miles, some hills, Pencoyd Iron Works and Pencoyd Landing, Cynwyd Heritage Trail, Wissahickon. Nearly 70 % of the hike is on shaded trails in the Wissahickon.

We start near the newly developed Pencoyd Landing which incorporates the old Pencoyd Iron Works with other structures including a hotel, banquet center and restaurant. They left the Iron Works structure standing (!!!) and built around (and in) them incorporating artifacts into doorways, trap doors, waterfalls, etc. Seeing is believing.

We then head right along the Schuylkill on a newly forged path where the Connelly Container Company plant used to be. Now, it's a quite nice area. A hidden park area with a nice waterfall takes us to the Cynwyd Heritage Trail and bridge to Manayunk. From the bridge you can see the entire area.

We will skip the hills of Manayunk and head straight for the shade of the Wissahickon. We'll take very twisty interesting trails right back to the starting area. One of my favorite trails goes up a ledge near some
Wissahickon white water. We'll also pass an incredible bridge with railroad tunnels and a railroad station.

It it's ridiculously hot we will alter the route.

Carpooling
To carpool from Hill House (201 W Evergreen Ave, Phila) meet 30 minutes before the event. Carpool time changes if hike time changes. Text me 215-2474459, 3-4 days in advance.
