Bike Ride: Saratoga Springs to Sacandaga Lake (and return)

Details

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/2/6/8/6/600_273789862.jpeg This ride is an out and back from Saratoga Springs to Sacandaga Lake. The distance is slightly over 60 miles, with +2100 feet of elevation gain.

The game plan is to ride from the Amtrak station in Saratoga Springs to Sacandaga Lake, cross the Batchellerville Bridge (in the picture above), and have a nice sit down lunch at the Four Corners Diner, which is right across the bridge. The lunch break, after riding 30 miles, will be at minimum one hour. If you wish to pack a lunch and eat by the lake, no problem.

Returning to Saratoga, when we hit the 48 mile mark, almost all the riding is downhill. See the elevation graph at the MapMyRide link below.

This ride is for experienced, physically fit riders only. If you haven't recently ridden 40 miles, or aren't 100% sure you can handle the distance and elevation gain of 2100 feet, please do not sign up without contacting me first.

If you attend, you must bring a spare inner tube for your bicycle in case of a flat. I will bring the tire repair tools and co2 air cartridges.

Bring water and snacks. Two water bottles should be carried. I'm not sure how many stores we pass on the ride, if any.

Rain Date: Saturday, Sept 7th (I'll make the call on Friday morning if it looks like Sunday's forecast is iffy.)
