Crane Mountain

Crane Mountain is a 3.1 mile loop that features a cave, pond and beautiful views from the rocky summit. We will be doing the loop in reverse. We will hike up the east side of the mountain to the pond. There is a cave that crosses under the trail prior to this ascent. Anyone wishing to go in the cave should bring a head lamp. There are a several viewpoints from the eastern side of the mountain. From the pond we will hike to the summit. The hike from the pond to the summit is steep. It is very common to stop at the cave for 15-20 minutes and wade in Crane Pond prior to going to the summit.

This hike can be challenging so you should be active and doing regular exercise. This hike has several steep ascents and a steep ladder on the descent (so dogs are highly discouraged). The descent is rugged. Dress for the weather and bring plenty of fluids. Bad weather will cancel this hike.
