Haystack Mt and Barbour Woods, Norfolk CT B3B

Not for beginners

We will hike 6.25+- miles total at the two properties which are adjacent.(Divided by a roadway only)Barbour Woods is a scenic woods walk over rolling terrain .Haystack Mt is a loop hike (some steep sections)to the 1716’ summit which features an accessible 34’ tall stone tower for scenic viewing of the surrounding countryside. We can eat lunch by the tower, you may want to bring a pad to sit on. Dress in non cotton layers and wear hiking boots. Also lunch, snacks, water ,bug spray,and carpool $. No dogs please. We will make a pit stop at the Berkshire Country Store in Norfolk before the hike. They have a deli there, sandwiches, pizza, etc. 1.5 hrs travel time from Defreestville Park and Ride to Norfolk. Meet 7AM at P and R to carpool. Map below is accurate for location of Park and Ride. We can stop at the ChiefMartindale diner at the intersection of Route 23 and the Taconic Parkway on our way home for those interested. By attending you agree that you alone are responsible for yourself and are participating in this event at your own risk.
