*Meet at trailhead 10am Hike starts from trailhead 1015am. Follow written directions and map below for the trailhead.*
We will hike a 2 -3+- mile loop along the green, yellow, blue, and red trails of the preserve. This property was once used as a sheep pasture and later reforested with softwood plantations. There are also mixed hardwood areas. There are views (thru the trees) of the Helderberg Escarpment. There are a few short and fairly steep, up and downhill grades. THIS IS NOT A FLAT WALK IN THE PARK. You should be doing regular aerobic exercise to participate. Dress for the weather and wear hiking boots. Also bring water, snacks.. Check yourself for ticks after the hike. No dogs please. Meet at the trailhead: from Albany take rt 32 into New Scotland to left on Cedar Grove Road. Go 2.4 miles turn right on Copeland Hill Rd. Go about a mile to top of the hill turn right on Appleby Rd.(aka Upper Copeland Hill Rd.) It is a gravel road. Go straight at first, then bear left past a residence driveway, then bear right down a short grade to the trailhead. You can park at top of hill before that short grade if trailhead lot is full. *** Do not go to the LOWER Copeland Hill trailhead as your GPS may suggest, that is not the correct location***
