Say farewell to Fall and ring in the Winter Solstice with your HikingMates on a short 2-mile beginners hike on the nature trail at Wallace Park in New Scotland, followed by hot chocolate and a cookie exchange by a bonfire right next to the park. I’ll provide the hot chocolate, **you bring two dozen cookies (homemade or store bought) and a container to take an assortment home** for the holidays (if you don’t eat them all at the bonfire). ***Please post in the comments what kind of cookies you plan on bringing.***

**Bring a headlamp for this hike and a camp chair for after**; microspikes or snowshoes might be needed, depending on the weather. Dress for the weather and wear hiking boots. No dogs please. **Meet at Stephen Wallace Park, 148 Swift Road, Voorheesville at 6:00pm. HIKE STARTS AT 6:05PM.**

The 88-acre Wallace park was formerly prosperous farmland belonging to the current residence at 158 Swift Road, built in 1832 by Robert Wands (1780-1852), the first Town Assessor and the son of John Wands, one of two brothers who were the founders of the Town of New Scotland.
