Bear Mountain (Salisbury CT) ** please note the new date **
Details
** Not for beginners ** This hike is rated "HARD" on AllTrails **
Bear is one of my favorite mountains. There is a steep rock scramble section that is fairly difficult to climb, so be sure you will be able to handle this one before signing up.
This one is 6 miles with 1700 feet of elevation gain. Be sure to bring plenty of water/hydration, a snack (we will hang out at the top for a bit) & dress for the weather (non-cotton layers).
Dogs are welcome on my outings as long as they are leashed & under your control while on the trails (also, be sure they/you can handle the scrambling)
Anyone wanting to carpool should arrange in the comments (we will meet everyone at the trailhead). Carpooling is recommended (the parking lot is small. there is roadside parking, but this is a popular hike and you could end up a far way down the road).
** Last year the GPS link brought us to the correct road but said we had arrived about 4-5 miles before we reached the trailhead. I think I fixed it but be aware that it may not be exactly accurate and you may need to keep driving for a bit before you reach the parking lot **
