Meet Defreestville Park and Ride 630am to carpool
Hike will be of three mountains in three different states from the same trailhead. 5.2 miles RT. Views of Bear, Everett, Greylock, and Catskill Mtns along the way. We will utilize the Mount Frissell Trail starting on East Street in the Mt Washington State Forest, MA. just north of the CT border , and a small section of the South Taconic trail. Trailhead elevation about 1800' , Round 2296' , Frissell 2453' and Brace 2311'. Brace is the last summit and has the most expansive views so we can relax there for a while.. There is some steep rock scrambling near the summits of Round and Frissell so gloves with grip and knee protection may be helpful. You should be doing regular aerobic exercise to participate. Dress for the weather in non cotton clothes and wear sturdy hiking boots.Bring lunch , plenty of hydration/electrolytes as there are **NO WATER SOURCES**, snacks, bug spray and carpool $ . No dogs please. Trailhead parking is limited so we should carpool as much as possible. We will make a pitstop at the Stewarts in Hillsdale on the way down. We can stop at Four Brothers Pizza in Hillsdale or Chief Martindale in Craryville for food after the hike, for those interested. By participating in this event you agree that you alone are fully responsible for yourself and are participating at your own risk.Rain postpones the outing. Please have emergency contact information on a card in your pocket or outer pocket of your pack.My cell 518 577 3566 if needed.
NOTE: If we are lucky this will be a day that the Brace Mt Outdoor Club is paragliding off Brace.
I would ask other organizers/more experienced hikers in attendance to be available to assist with a larger group, if needed. Thank you!
