Chino Hills State Park (Adv. Beginner/Intermediate)

THIS IS NOT AN INTRODUCTORY HIKE!

DESCRIPTION: Chino Hills State Park is unique in that it provides refuge for both biodiversity and solitude to the visitors who enjoy their outdoor experiences. There is no other location in the LA Basin were people can drive a short distance and be swept away with scenic vistas, hike, bike or ride a horse on over 65 miles of trails. At 14,102 acres the park is managed as an open space habitat where all plant and animal life are protected.

DISTANCE, ELEVATION GAIN, PACE:
We will choose different trails each week based on group preference. Depending on trails chosen, we may go from 5 to 11 miles with elevation gains up to 1300+ gain; completed in 2.5 to 3.5 hours at a pace from 2.5 to 3 mph. We will periodically stop for pictures, as well as snack time about half way through. Look for comments closer to event date for possible route selection. You can also email host or post in comments route suggestions.

NECESSITIES: Adequate water (1 to 3 liters), hat, sunscreen, snack, layered clothing to adjust to climate change. Trekking Poles optional.

FACILITIES: No water or facilities are located at the trailhead. Urinating in public is punishable by a fine under California Penal Code section 640. First conviction not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250). Occasional out houses on selected trails.

From Orange/Anaheim/Beach areas side of 91: Take the Imperial Highway exit from the 91 freeway. Turn LEFT onto CA-90 Imperial Hwy. After 1.6 miles: Take the Kellogg Drive ramp and turn RIGHT. After 1.1 miles: Turn RIGHT onto YORBA LINDA BLVD. Immediately get in left lane to turn LEFT at next light onto FAIRMONT BLVD. After 1.6 miles: turn LEFT onto RIM CREST DR.

Go about not quite a half a mile to the end of RIM CREST DR where it stops at Blue Gum Dr on the left and park on the right. The park entrance is right there beyond the fence.

From Corona side of 91: Exit Yorba Linda Blvd and trun right. Turn right on Village Center Dr. Turn left of Fairmont. Turn right on Rim Crest Dr. See above directions on where to park.

Please contact me if you have any difficulties. Keep in mind this is a residential neighborhood; let's be mindful of the residents living there. There is no entrance or parking fees at this location of the park.
