This is Day 2 of 2017-July: Oregon Summer Trip: Portland, Salem and Vicinity (https://www.meetup.com/HikingOC/events/237056629/)
We will have all day hiking in the Opal Creek Wilderness (http://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Opal_Pool-Cedar_Flats_Hike) and check here for driving direction (http://www.opalcreek.org/hiking/directions-to-the-trailhead/) (need a HCV for a 5 miles dirt road)
General Rating and Difficulty: there will be both hiking and sightseeing. It is a workout that is rated levels 2 to 3+ for distance and flexible on schedule. Please see the RATING TABLE (http://files.meetup.com/1554500/RATING%20TABLE.pdf) for more info about difficulty levels.

GOOD TO KNOW & Essentials: 10 hiking Essentials (https://www.meetup.com/HikingOC/messages/boards/thread/9535234), hat, sunscreen, bring water, snacks and a light lunch. There is warning about poison oak on the trails

To prevent Mosquitoes: Insect repellent (extra just in case)

Sunscreen (hot during the day, high in the 80s-90s)

Layer clothes (cold at night, low in the 40-50s) and personal items needed.

Medication if you have altitude sickness and electrolyte drink (ie Gatorade, coconut water, etc,...)
