According to various on-line posts, Twenty Lakes Basin and Saddlebag Lake Loop is an incredible route simply because of how breathtakingly beautiful it is. The route traverses stunning alpine terrain whilst bringing you to a number of sublimely charming lakes, making it one of the most scenic trails within Inyo National Forest. Not only is it a beautiful route, but it is also fairly accessible, and rated as moderately difficult - making it a viable option for a large cross-section of the hiking community. BUT BE AWARE THE ELEVATION IS BETWEEN 10,100 AND 10,300 feet. 8 MILES AND 900 FEET OF TOTAL GAIN WITH UPS AND DOWNS.
It’s a very popular trail but we urge you to do your own research for more information.
Along this 8 mile loop the terrain varies mile to mile. We will pass many lakes including Saddleback lake, Hummingbird lake, Odell lake, Lake Helen, Shamrock lake, Excelsior lake, Steelhead lake, Little Steelhead lake, Tower lake, Potter lake,Wasco lake, Hidden lake, Greenstone lake and a few more and that’s all folks.
