ABOUT MUNICH and vicinity :
Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century historicist palace on a rugged hill of the foothills of the Alps in the very south of Germany, near the border with Austria.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a German town in northern Bavaria known for its medieval architecture. Half-timbered houses line the cobblestone lanes of its old town. The town walls include many preserved gate houses and towers, plus a covered walkway on top. St. Jakob’s Church houses an intricate, late Gothic altarpiece by woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider. The medieval Town Hall has a tower with panoramic views.
Harburg Castle is a well-preserved medieval fortress in Bavaria, Germany, renowned as one of the country's oldest and largest castle complexes. Dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries, the castle has never been seriously damaged by war, giving it a distinctive medieval atmosphere.
Rothenburg and Harburg are popular stops on Germany's Romantic Road (Romantische Straße) It describes the 460 kilometres (290 miles) of surface roads between Würzburg and Füssen in southern Germany, specifically in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, linking a number of picturesque towns and castles. In medieval times, part of it was a trade route that connected the center of Germany with the south
