THIS IS NOT INTRODUCTION TO HIKING (not for Beginners or Occasional Hikers)
The 2nd Mountains Hike in the prep series for Summer mountain hikes. Know your limits! Icehouse Canyon is a nice trail for Intermediate Hikers those like to try mountain trails for a change.

DEPARTURE TIME
•6:45 - 7 AM meet at trailhead (if need to drop off car for shuttle)
•7:15 AM start hiking

ABOUT THE HIKE:
Highlights: Splendid high country, wilderness, natural springs along the trail, waterfalls and breathtaking peak with a 360-degree view
Near: Mt Baldy, CA
Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous
Distance: 7 to 14.5+ or 18+ miles
Duration: at least 3 to 7 hours
Elevation Gain: 2500 to 5500+ft
Adventure Pass: Required!

GOOD TO KNOW & Essentials: 10 hiking Essentials (https://www.meetup.com/HikingOC/messages/boards/thread/9535234), wear hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, bring water, snacks and a light lunch. There is warning about poison oak on the trails

DISTANCE
Hike 1: Out and back 7.2 miles RT with 2,600 feet of vertical gain for intermediate hikers who plan to hike to Icehouse Saddle. You'll return back with or without anyone taking that route

Hike 2: Loop 14.5 miles RT, 5500+ft elevation gain. Continue from Icehouse Saddle to Cucamonga peak (out and back 5 miles RT). Back to the saddle, continue to 3Ts: Timber, Thunder and Telegraph Peaks (loop back via Baldy Notch and down to Manker Flats via ski lift. One way ticket down is $12)

Hike 3: Cucamonga Peak only: 12 miles, 4200 ft gain, out and back.

Hike 4: 3Ts only: about 12 miles with car shuttle similar as hike 2

Hike 5: to Mt Baldy about 18 miles 6000+ft gain (not at this time, the trail is closed)

Historic Icehouse Canyon is one of favorite places to hike. The scenery is stunning. Precipitous canyon walls rise steeply into the blue sky.
At an elevation of 8,859 feet, Cucamonga Peak offers amazing views of the inland empire, yet the trail up gives you the true wilderness experience.
3Ts Mountains: 13 miles RT loop, Telegraph Peak (8985') stands as the crowning glory of the celebrated Three T's, with Thunder Mountain (8587') to its north, and Timber Mountain (8303') to its south.

Driving Direction to the trailhead: Take the 60, 10 or 210 take exit 52 toward Baseline Rd, turn left to E. Baseline Rd in Upland/Ontario. Exit and travel North (towards the mountains - you can't miss them.) Park in a large parking lot.
