Boat Canyon to Emerald Canyon (level 2+)

Join us for a great workout on the hills of Boat and Emerald Canyons. The ocean views from the cliff at the end of Boat Canyon are Awesome!
Since this is a residential area, let's please keep our voices low to show respect and consideration to local resident's. carpooling is highly recommended as parking is limited.
Boat Canyon is a ridge above Laguna Beach in the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park with great views from our Local Mountains to Catalina and from Palos Verdes to Dana Point, with good conditioning hills.
We'll start our hike 20 yards inside gate 14.
We'll take the Boat Trail up to meet the Boomer Ridge. Go 1/4 mile then turn left to the Old Emerald Trail, left to Old Emerald Canyon Road, loop back to Boat Trail back to the starting point.

Boat Canyon + Emerald Canyon Loop
Distance: 9 miles
Elevation gain: 1800 ft
Boat Canyon only
Distance: 7 miles
Elevation gain: 1200 ft

Recommend: 2 liters of water, Sun protection, snack, grippy shoes.
There is very little shade on this hike, so be prepared!

Directions:
From PCH going south (pass Newport Beach, Corona Del Mar, Crystal Cove before Laguna Beach), turn left on San Joaquin St. right on HILLCREST DR, Turn Left on DARTMOOR ST drive to the end.
From PCH going North pass Laguna Beach turn right on San Joaquin St (right after you pass Viejo, the street with light), right on HILLCREST DR, Turn Left on DARTMOOR ST drive to the end.
After the hike, you are welcome to join us for lunch at the Mustard Cafe, 21137 Newport Coast Dr, Newport Coast.
